Too many times I have seen out of the corner of my eye, as I drive or explore on foot, an image that needs to be shot. I know that if I continue on, ignore that urge, and do not turn around, that the recourse will be great and inevitably lead to a regret and self chastisement that will haunt me for days!

On these pages, therefore, are all those moments when I did go back. When I let time stand still, let other appointments slip away, and let the unique contentment, and that wonderful insular moment of capturing that image, engulf me.

"I almost never set out to photograph a landscape, nor do I think of my camera as a means of recording a mountain or a person unless I absolutely need a 'record shot'. My first thought is always of light."
-Galen Rowell
